William L. "Bill" Brill, a devoted veteran, skilled tradesman, and cherished community member, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on January 11, 1949, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Bill led a life defined by service, dedication, and camaraderie, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Raised in Fond du Lac by his parents, Floyd Sr. and Lorraine (Konen) Brill, alongside his siblings, Bill graduated from New Holstein High School in 1967. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country, proudly serving in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975.

His bravery and commitment earned him a Purple Heart, and in later years, he was honored to participate in an Old Glory Honor Flight on August 7, 2019—an experience that held deep meaning for him.

Following his military service, Bill dedicated 35 years to Ironworkers Local #8, contributing to projects that ranged from manufacturing plants to bridges, hospitals, and waste treatment facilities. His expertise took him from Wisconsin to Hawaii, helping build vital infrastructure in numerous communities.

Beyond his profession, Bill was a vibrant presence in his community. He owned and operated several beloved taverns, including Brill’s Re-Bar in Calumetville, Alumni in Johnsburg, and BS Inn in Mt. Calvary.

These establishments weren’t just businesses—they were gathering places where friendships flourished, laughter echoed, and memories were made. Whether playing the stump fiddle or singing along to Frank Sinatra on the jukebox, Bill had a way of bringing joy to those around him.

A lifelong music enthusiast, Bill had a passion for Gospel, Dixie Land, and four-part harmony, which he shared as a dedicated member of the Johnsburg Church Choir for over 50 years. His generosity and commitment extended to local events, fundraisers, and the Holyland ballparks, where he actively supported his community.

Bill was also deeply involved with several organizations, including the Calumet Fire Department, Abler-Engel American Legion Post 454 in Mt. Calvary, and the Malone Area Heritage Museum. Even in retirement, his dedication to service remained unwavering.

He is survived by his sisters, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Jr., brother-in-law Donald Moon, and nephew Corey Sesing.

A visitation will be held on February 20, 2025, at St. John the Baptist in Johnsburg from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 5:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holyland American Legions or Holyland Athletic Clubs—fitting tributes to a man who gave so much to his community.
