The passing of Engineer/Paramedic Tyler Kreiter at the age of 43 has left the Green Bay Metro Fire Department (GBMFD) and the broader Green Bay community in mourning. 

Kreiter’s life was a testament to the values of courage, dedication, and resilience, both as a firefighter and as an individual. Tyler began his career with the GBMFD 17 years ago, fulfilling a lifelong aspiration to serve and protect his community. 

His work at Fire Station 6 on W. Mason Street showcased his expertise and dedication. Whether driving fire engines, operating complex machinery, or providing life-saving medical care, Tyler approached every task with precision and care.




“Tyler exemplified what it means to be a Green Bay Metro Firefighter,” the department’s statement reads. Indeed, his unwavering commitment to duty and his colleagues set a standard that few could match.

Beyond his technical skills, Tyler’s courage extended to his personal life. Diagnosed with cancer, he faced his illness with the same determination that defined his career. 

Despite the physical and emotional toll, he remained a source of strength and inspiration for those around him. Friends and family recall how he never let his battle diminish his spirit or his resolve to make every moment count.

The camaraderie within the firehouse was a cornerstone of Tyler’s life. Fellow firefighters recall the countless shifts they shared, filled with moments of high stakes and quiet comradery. 

“He was the kind of guy you wanted next to you in a tough situation,” said one colleague. “His presence alone brought a sense of calm and focus.” Tyler’s impact was also felt beyond the firehouse walls.
