Manual Correa Obituary, Manual Correa Death - Man found fatally shot in Southcrest alley identified; no arrests made

The fatal Thanksgiving Eve shooting of Manual Correa, 46, in Southcrest has prompted an intense investigation by San Diego police. The incident, which occurred in the 3700 block of National Avenue, has been attributed to a confrontation between Correa and a group of individuals that escalated into gunfire.

According to initial reports, Correa and a male suspect both drew firearms during an argument in a parking lot, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Correa was struck and succumbed to his injuries despite first-aid efforts at the scene. Witnesses described the group fleeing, with some leaving in a white Lexus, a key piece of evidence in the ongoing case.

On December 4, 2024, investigators made progress when the ALPR system located the suspect vehicle in the Ridgeview/Webster area. Patrol officers secured the vehicle and detained individuals at a nearby residence.

A subsequent search warrant revealed firearms and narcotics, leading to one arrest, though police clarified that the individual detained is not considered a suspect in Correa’s homicide.

Detectives are focused on understanding the motive behind the altercation. The circumstances surrounding the meeting and the argument’s escalation into violence remain unclear.

This case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in resolving violent crimes swiftly and effectively. Community support has been crucial, with Crime Stoppers offering a confidential tip line to aid the investigation. As the search for the suspects continues, police remind the public that even small pieces of information could prove pivotal.
