Laxmiben Khristi Obituary, Laxmiben Khristi Death - 88-year-old NYC husband fatally stabs wife in front of her family

On Thursday night, a Staten Island home became the scene of a heartbreaking domestic tragedy when an argument between an elderly couple ended with the 88-year-old husband fatally stabbing his 87-year-old wife.

The fatal incident took place at their Caramel Court residence in Dongan Hills, shocking family members who were present during the altercation. According to police sources, the couple, identified as Laxmiben Khristi and her husband, had been engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated rapidly.

In a fit of anger, the husband reportedly seized a knife and stabbed his wife in the chest. Family members, unable to intervene in time, witnessed the devastating act and immediately sought help.

Paramedics rushed Laxmiben to Staten Island University Hospital, but her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her husband, who remained at the scene, was taken into police custody.

Investigators have not yet disclosed the charges pending against him as they continue to piece together the sequence of events. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the quiet Staten Island community.

Neighbors described the couple as private and unassuming, with no outward signs of turmoil in their relationship. The 122nd Precinct, where the incident occurred, had not recorded any homicides this year prior to this devastating case.

Domestic violence advocates point out that such incidents underscore the need for vigilance and intervention in conflicts, regardless of age. Family members and friends are often in a position to notice early warning signs and seek help before situations turn violent.

As the Khristi family navigates this period of grief and loss, the incident has ignited broader discussions on addressing and preventing domestic violence among senior couples.
