In a devastating crash early Sunday morning, four people lost their lives, including three members of a Turlock family. The victims have been identified as Daniel Lourenco, 44, his wife Jennifer Lourenco, 45, and their 16-year-old daughter Madelynn Lourenco. The fourth victim was Uriel Guizar Negrete, 22, the driver of a speeding vehicle that collided with the Lourenco family’s Jeep.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred just before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 165 and Greenway Avenue. The Lourenco family was traveling west on Greenway Avenue and had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. When they attempted to cross into the intersection, the Infiniti sedan driven by Negrete, which was reportedly speeding, crashed into the family’s vehicle.
All three Lourenco family members died at the scene, while Madelynn was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Jennifer Lourenco, a well-known education specialist teacher at Sinclear Elementary School in Turlock, was among those remembered fondly by colleagues and students. The tragic loss of the family has deeply affected the community.
Negrete, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that all passengers in the Lourenco’s Jeep were wearing their seat belts. The CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash and whether speed, drugs, or alcohol may have contributed to the incident.
Two additional passengers in the Jeep, a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, were also injured and transported to the hospital. Their injuries were classified as major, and their recovery is currently being monitored.
This tragic accident has left the city of Turlock and beyond in mourning, as families, friends, and colleagues remember the lives lost in such a devastating way. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
