The Linn-Mar Community School District is mourning the loss of one of its own students, Jack Hollingshead, who passed away unexpectedly. Jack, a student at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa, was known for his bright spirit and unwavering support for his peers. His death has left a deep void in the school community, where he was loved by students, teachers, and staff alike.

Jack’s presence at Linn-Mar was felt in every classroom, hallway, and event. His enthusiasm for learning was contagious, and his friendly demeanor made him a friend to all. Whether it was through school clubs, sports, or casual interactions, Jack’s positive energy was a hallmark of his character. 

In light of his passing, the school district has organized support services for students and staff who are grieving the loss of a peer and friend. Teachers and counselors have been available to help students process their emotions and offer support during this difficult time. A memorial service is being planned in honor of Jack’s life and contributions to the school community.

The death of Jack Hollingshead has profoundly impacted the Linn-Mar Community School District, but his legacy will continue to inspire others to approach life with the same kindness, determination, and warmth he embodied. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. 

Jack is survived by his parents Tausha and Josh Hollingshead and his younger brother, Porter Hollingshead. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Tom Adolph and Salam Daoud and Laura Gale, his paternal grandparents Lori Hollingshead and Laura Taylor, John and Kathy Hollingshead, and his paternal great grandfather James Anderton.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and family/friends.  He is preceded in death by his aunt, Meagan Hollingshead, and many great-grandparents.  

A Visitation for Jack will be held from 3-7 PM, Monday, December 16, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Antioch Christian Church, 433 Cross Road in Marion.
