We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Doug Halliday, a talented artist from the Town of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. Doug’s life was tragically cut short by cancer, but his influence as an artist will continue to be felt long after his passing.
Doug’s love for art began at an early age. Growing up in Conception Bay South, he nurtured his passion for drawing and sports, which eventually merged into his creative career. Starting with pencil sketches, Doug’s artistic expression evolved as he embraced mixed media, incorporating vibrant colors and dynamic elements into his work.
Known for his unique approach to art, Doug’s pieces often featured subtle details that were highlighted by deep, striking colors that seemed to leap off the page. His work was deeply influenced by his love for comics, sports, wrestling, and pop culture, all of which became integral components of his art. These influences were reflected in his ability to think outside the box and approach art in a fresh and innovative way.
Doug’s work was a testament to his passion for creativity, and his ability to bring together various elements and ideas into a cohesive artistic vision. “Piecing ideas together in my head and putting them to paper” was what inspired him most as an artist. Doug will be remembered for his creativity, unique perspective, and the joy he brought to his art and to those who knew him.
